One of my favorite adventures in 2023, involved a meandering journey to Columbia, Missouri. I love road trips. I love meandering. And I really love bookstores!
Columbia had a few great bookstores! I picked this gem up at Skylark Bookshop (along with a few others). Skylark had large windows, lots of light, and a great selection of new books.
New Suns is a collection of 17 short stories. I’ve always felt that anthologies give book lovers extra value. Not only are you exposed to new authors but you also have the opportunity to sample new writing styles and if you’re really lucky a new take on the genre. This collection delivered all three things.
I’ve now been exposed to writing by Tobias S. Buckell, Katheleen Alcalá, Steven Barnes, and Chinelo Onwuala. Of course, I’m looking forward to reading more. I’ll keep you updated!
